The course introduces students to a wide range of theories and perspectives in art education. It creates a dialogue in which learners discuss issues and challenges surrounding art education. This enables them to explore debates which allow them to develop a strong rationale for teaching art. In addition, it interrogates the philosophical and pedagogical material which seek to define a paradigm shift which is in synch with 21st century Education. It also covers information and knowledge management which promotes collaborative learning/teaching through the development of a Virtual Community of Practice grounded on Connectivism and Social Constructivism.
